Lee Yankou

Name – Lee Yankou

Blowing fire for his SBC interview

Age – 22

Hometown – Toronto

Current home – Toronto/visiting San Francisco

First set up – Element Billy Pepper, Grind Kings, Pig. First “legit” set up was a 8 inch Real Nate Jones with Indys.

What got you into skating? – Seemed like fun, my neighbour was doing it.

What was your first contest? Maybe a local one at a stupid temporary park. I remember entering the W49 Open wayyy before i should’ve, that was scary.

Current Set Up – 8.25 Think, 149 Indys, Paradox grip,  Osiris Duffels.

Latest trick you learned – mongo push to fakie switch benihana, not really trying.

Latest pro citing – Been in the van with the Homies

What do you prefer to skate the streets or parks? Explain – It all depends on the atmosphere. If you have the bros with you, anything is fun, even the worst spot. I generally prefer a spot that is not crowded and has fun stuff to skate, whether it is a park or street.

Trick you have the most fun doing – Any trick that is done well. Flicked proper, caught and put down smooth. It doesn’t have to be clean, just fun.

Favorite skaters – Heath, Arto, Penny, Apples

Favorite video – Flip – Sorry, Sight Unseen

Favorite Food – Mexican/Pho

We heard you have been on tour lately, what’s it like in the tour van? – It is just being a team player, skate what everyone wants to skate, eat what everyone wants to eat, pee when everyone pees. If you have like 10 dudes in a van and everyone does their own thing it takes a ridiculously long time. Lets just skate and have fun.

Best place traveled too – Arizona with a good tour guide, San Francisco takes the cake.

Future destinations? – Keep it spontaneous.

Most memorable session or sessions – Skating Whiterock with Glenn, Sherman and Swell, anytime i am surprised I did something. Good times.

What do you miss about home? – Skating the parks with the bros. Good public transit.

Looking back as a young skateboarder,  learning  all the tricks and progressing up through the ranks, what motivated you or kept you going to want more? – I do not really think i have progressed all that far. I am just having fun and, don’t know what could be better.

Future plans? Skate more, skate harder, have fun.

Last words? – Skate more, skate harder, have fun.
